(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – The Chairman of the Elections Commission, Mahinda Deshapriya stated that the Gazette Notification on the announcement of Local Government Elections will be released around October 02.
The term of the North-Central, Eastern, and Sabaragamuwa Provincial Councils are to end in September this year.
Elections Commissioner Deshapriya further noted that according to the Elections Act, the Gazette Notification on the announcement of elections must be released within 7-days following the end of the Provincial Council term.
