(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Broad Green Pictures has announced plans for “1974,” Casey La Scala’s horror film inspired by true events about the house at the centre of the famed ‘Amityville Horror’.
The house was host to one of the grisliest murders in American history when Ronald DeFeo Jr. shot all six members of his family. A year later, a family moved into the house and then fled due to what was claimed to be paranormal activity.
Eli Roth and Todd Garner will produce and a production start date is still being determined. Numerous films about the incident have been made from 1979’s original hit to the 2005 reboot with Ryan Reynolds.
The Weinstein Company had planned to release “Amityville: The Awakening” this summer but pulled the film off the schedule.
