KL Rahul seeks inspiration from Sunil Gavaskar for Nagpur Test

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Opener Lokesh Rahul was seen interacting with batting legend Sunil Gavaskar before the start of the second Test between India and Sri Lanka at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur on Friday (24).

Rahul was dismissed for a ‘golden duck’ in the first innings of the first Test but came back strongly in the second innings and slammed a scintillating fifty at Eden Gardens. The ace opener will now hope to take that form into Nagpur Test as well and he is leaving no stones unturned for it.

Rahul was seen interacting with Sunil Gavaskar ahead of the clash, in which he was seen listening intently to the legendary India opener. The image of the same was posted on Indian cricket team’s Instagram account and the post read: “From one opener to the other, Sunny G in conversation with @rahulkl ahead of the 2nd Test”

Gavaskar’s vast experience at the highest level will come in handy for Rahul in long run as following the end of the Sri Lanka tour, India will have to get ready for the tough overseas tour straightaway. And Rahul knows that the SA tour will be difficult and therefore before the start of the second Test, Rahul revealed that the pitches in Nagpur and Delhi are expected to help seamers as the world’s top Test team prepares to tour South Africa starting in January.

“It is very clear that we are preparing for the next two years that we are going to travel abroad. We will play lot of cricket overseas and find wickets like this and it is going to be challenging for all of us. So we wanted to prepare in that way,” Rahul said on the eve of the match.
