Adverse weather hits across Sri Lanka; Schools closed, train services halted, electricity disrupted

(UTV|COLOMBO) – All schools in Western, Southern, Uva, and Central Provinces will be closed on Thursday (30) due to the prevailing adverse weather conditions, the Ministry of Education announced.

Meanwhile train services along the Kelani Valley railway line were also disrupted owing to fallen trees. Train services on Kelani Valley railway line have been limited from Avissawella to Kottawa and from Badulla to Nanu Oya on the Up-Country line.

The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) stated that the electricity supply has been disrupted to several areas within in Colombo, Matara, Galle, Badulla, and Kalutara Districts, and restoration of the electricity hampered due to the prevailing adverse weather conditions.
