Health authorities issue influenza ‘B’ warning

UTV | COLOMBO – The health authorities are urging the public to be vigilant as influenza ‘B’ is spreading in several parts of the country.

The Ministry said this disease is becoming active in the months of November, December, and January in each year.

Meanwhile, Director General of Public Health Services, Dr. Anil Jaasinghe said that an epidemiologist will be sent to Mullaitivu to look into the death of 9 patients being treated at the Mullaitivu Hospital.

The victims were aged between 50 and 70 and at present around 100 influenza patients are being treated at Mullaitivu Hospital.
