(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Opening batsmen Upul Tharanga has been named as the Captain of the Sri Lanka ODI squad for the series against South Africa scheduled to commence on Saturday in Port Elizabeth.
Sri Lanka Cricket issuing a statement said the left handed batsman will captain the ODI series owing to the absence of regular skipper Angelo Mathews who returned to the island yesterday citing personal reasons.
Mathews had also suffered a hamstring injury during the course of the 2nd Twenty20 International that took place last Sunday.
Seamer Nuwan Pradeep and Batsman Dhanushka Gunathilake were also forced to return home due to injuries.
Meanwhile the SLC selection committee has also included appointed Sandun Weerakkody, Lahiru Madushanka and Chathuranga Silva in their squad.

February 7 – Cape Town
