292.1M USD credited to govt. for Hambantota Port

UTV | COLOMBO – The Central Bank of Sri Lanka says 292.1 million US Dollars has been credited as the first instalment to the US Dollar account of the government subsequent to the agreement signed between Sri Lanka Ports Authority and the China Merchant Port Holdings Company Limited.

The amount credited as the first instalment is 30% of the total sum which should be received in accordance with the agreement.

The agreement officially came into effect from the 9th of December.

Accordingly the China Merchant Port Holdings Company Limited presented the cheque with 292.1 million US Dollars to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on the 9th of December.
