(UDHAYAM,COLOMBO) – The gazette notification for the marketing imported and local rice at a fixed price was issued at midnight yesterday(08).
Accordingly, Samba rice variety, excluding Keeri Samba and Sooduru Samba, is to be sold at 80 rupees a kilo.
The controlled price of a kilo of Kekulu rice is 70 rupees per kilo, while Nadu rice is to be sold at 72 rupees a kilo.
Minister of Finance Ravi Karunanayake emphasized that rice must be sold at the controlled price enacted by the government.
A vessel belonging to the Pakistani air force carrying 25,000 kilos of White Kekulu rice arrived in the country yesterday(08).
