(UTV|COLOMBO) – Elisabeth Moss (“The Handmaid’s Tale,” “Top of the Lake”) and Michael Stuhlbarg (“Call Me By Your Name,” “The Shape of Water”) have joined “Shirley,” a biopic about legendary female horror author Shirley Jackson.
The story follows a young couple that moves in with Jackson and her Bennington College professor-husband, Stanley Hyman (Stuhlbarg), in the hopes of starting a new life.
Instead, they find themselves fodder for a psycho-drama that inspires “The Haunting of Hill House” author’s next major novel. Josephine Decker (“Madeline’s Madeline”) helms the project which Sarah Gubbins adapted from Susan Scarf Merrell’s 2014 book of the same name.
Moss, Gubbins, Sue Naegle, Jeffrey Soros, Simon Horsman, Christine Vachon and David Hinojosa will produce and shooting begins this summer.
