A cardiologist attached to Karapitiya Teaching Hospital, Dr. Namal Gamage has decided to withdraw from performing heart surgeries from next Monday (Jul 16) due to several patients had died recently after they were admitted to the ICU following the surgery.
This incidents caused due to the defective air-conditioning system and he has informed the Hospital Director that the decision was taken as the central air-conditioning system of the Heart Surgery ICU is malfunctioning.
Meanwhile, the Health Services Director General, Dr. Anil Jayasinghe said, that the Ministry will be able to finalize the procedure within the next week.
