(UTV|COLOMBO) – Netflix is reportedly at work developing a sequel to the Adam Wingard-directed “Death Note” film adaptation which was released last year.
Based on the popular anime and manga series, Nat Wolf, Lakeith Stanfield, Margaret Qualley and Willem Dafoe starred in the original about a high school student who comes across a supernatural notebook, realising it holds within it a great power – if the owner inscribes someone’s name into it while picturing their face, he or she will die. Intoxicated with his new godlike abilities, the young man begins to kill those he deems unworthy of life.
The film wasn’t a hit with fans or critics, but the streaming service says the first was a “Sizeable success”. No Director has signed on to the project as yet, but writer Greg Russo will reportedly pen the script for the sequel.
