Netflix nabs “Lionheart” and possibly “Polaroid”

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Netflix has acquired the worldwide rights to the Nigerian family dramedy “Lionheart” directed by and starring Genevieve Nnaji as a woman trying to succeed in a male-dominated industry.

Looking to prove her worth, Adaeze (Nnaji) steps up to the challenge when her father, Chief Ernest Obiagu is forced to take a step back due to health issues and appoints his crude and eccentric brother, Godswill, instead to run the company with his young daughter.

Complications arise when they discover that the family business is in dire financial straits and both Adaeze and Godswill try to save the company in their own way to crazy and often hilarious results. Nkem Owoh, Pete Edochie and Onyeka Onwenu co-star.

Additionally, the streaming giant is looking to pick up Lars Klevberg’s horror title “Polaroid” from the ruins of Dimension Films which are now residing with Lantern Entertainment.

The story follows high school loner Bird Fitcher, who has no idea what dark secrets are tied to the mysterious vintage Polaroid camera she stumbles upon. But it doesn’t take long to discover that those who have their picture taken meet a tragic end. Kathryn Prescott, Tyler Young, Grace Zabriskie and Mitch Pileggi co-star.
