(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Brazil Gen. Jagath Jayasuriya, concurrently accredited to Colombia presented his credentials to Juan Manuel Santos Calderón, President of Colombia at the president´s palace in Bogota on 16th February.
At the Presentation of credentials Gen. Jayasuriya conveyed greetings of President of Sri Lanka and briefed the significant developments taken place under the unity government. He also congratulated the President on winning the Nobel Peace Prize and for the success of the peace process of Colombia.
After presenting credentials, Ambassador Gen. Jagath Jayasuriya had opportunity to meet Maria Ángela Holguin Cuéllar, Minister of Foreign Affairs and highlighted the importance of strengthening bilateral relations between the two friendly countries.
Ambassador also met Alfredo Ramos – Director of the Asia, Africa and Oceania, Ms. Maria Poula Arenas Director of Trade Relations at Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, and Manuel Felipe Becerra – Director of International Affairs of the Ministry of Defence. During meetings, Ambassador emphasized importance of enhancing bilateral relations, trade relations and exchange of experts in the field of trade and defence for the benefit of both countries in the years ahead.
