(UTV|COLOMBO) – Rumoured last week, it is now confirmed that actresses Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Jurnee Smollett-Bell have officially won the respective roles of Huntress and Black Canary in the “Birds of Prey” film at Warner Bros. Pictures.
Huntress will likely be the Helena Bertinelli version, the daughter of a mob boss who becomes a brutal vigilante after the death of her family. Black Canary is Dinah Laurel Lance, a martial arts artist with a superpower called canary cry.
The pair will star opposite Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn in the film which features a number of female DC characters.
Christina Hodson (“Bumblebee”) penned the script while Cathy Yan will direct the film which will go into production either later this year or early next year for a February 2020 release.
